Police reports are filed for many reasons like arrests, domestic disputes, traffic accidents, burglaries, fraud, theft, stalking, violence, etc.

A traffic stop on Ocean Blvd., at “The Y,” led to the arrest of a 56-year old Coos Bay male March 13, 5:45 p.m.  According to an OSP report, James Roy Maestretti allegedly showed signs of impairment, consented to and failed a Field Sobriety Test.  He was charged with DUII and his 1990 Ford F250 impounded.

A vehicle stopped on Hwy. 101, milepost 231, March 12, 1:13 a.m., led to a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 18-year old Skyler Keith Waldrop, North Bend, allegedly “exhibited signs of impairment, consented to and failed” a field sobriety test.  He was transported to the North Bend PD where he consented to a breath test.  His passenger, 19-year old Erica Mae Woomer, North Bend, also allegedly “exhibited signs of impairment and was issued a citation for MIP-Alcohol Consumption.  Waldrop was cited for DUII, Driving While Suspended and MIP-Alcohol Consumption.

Warrant arrest
A male on a bicycle operating it without lights and riding the wrong way on March 11, 7:12 p.m. was arrested.  According to an OSP report, Wilshire Blvd. & So. Spring Rd., a records check revealed 54-year old Robin Dale Corey, Coos Bay, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Contempt of Court – Probation Violation out of Curry Co.  He was also charged with PCS Less than an Oz. Marijuana and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

An alleged illegal U-turn on Hwy. 101 at the Coos River Hwy. March 11, 12:53 p.m., led to a traffic stop and a DUII arrest.  According to an OSP report, 35-year old Scott Lee Clark, Coos Bay, was identified as the driver of the 1987 Toyota Camry.  “The suspect displayed signs of impairment and consented to” a field sobriety test “which he failed.  During a pat down search for weapons, a concealed butterfly style knife was found on his person.”  He was transported to the Coos Bay PD for a breath sample, “gave urine,” and then cited for DUII-Controlled Substance, Carrying Concealed Weapon and Open Container.  He was released to a sober adult.

One driver was transported to Bay Area Hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 101 at Frontage Road south of Coos Bay March 10, 12:55 p.m.  According to an OSP report, 91-year old Donald Wesley Thompson, North Bend, pulled out in front of a vehicle operated by 32-year old Wendy Marie Osincup, North Bend, and her 2003 Ford “T-Boned” his 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck.  Osincup was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital.  Her child and infant passengers were not injured. 

A Ford F250 pickup truck, stopped on Ocean Blvd. at 26th St. in Coos Bay for alleged “multiple traffic infractions,” resulted in a DUII arrest on March 10 at 1:29 a.m.  According to an OSP report, 26-year old Dustin James Leonnig, Coos Bay, exhibited multiple signs of alcohol impairment and, after a field sobriety test was arrested and transported to the Coos Bay PD where he submitted a breath test.  He was also charged with Driving While Suspended and Driving Uninsured.

Sex offender
According to an OSP report, 26-year old Christopher John Defrates, North Bend, was issued a criminal citation on March 9, 5:29 p.m. for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender at the DHS Parking Lot in North Bend.  He was also arrested on an outstanding CBPD warrant and transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille. 

Two-vehicle crash
A vehicle attempting to pass another on Hwy. 42, milepost 1, March 8, 6:53 p.m., led to a two-vehicle accident.  According to an OSP report, 45-year old Dale Lee Hatfield, Coquille, was operating a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck that attempted to pass a 2008 Honda Civic operated by 67-year old William John Steevens, Coos Bay.  Hatfield lost control and struck the Honda and then a guardrail.  The Honda hit a guardrail head-on.  No one was injured and both vehicles were driven from the accident scene.

Rolling rock
Minor injuries were reported after a rock rolled off an embankment into the eastbound lane of Hwy. 38, milepost 13.5, and was struck by a vehicle on March 8, 3:17 p.m.  According to an OSP report, 74-year old Margie Louise Zamzow, Rogue River, was eastbound when she couldn’t avoid the large rock.  Her 1997 Lincoln Towncar was disabled by the collision.  She had two female passengers in her vehicle ages 72 & 81.  They declined transport by medical personnel.

A vehicle stopped on Hwy. 101 at Johnson Ave. in Coos Bay March 14, 6:45 p.m., led to drug charges and the seizure of $5,000 in cash.  According to an OSP report, 34-year old Patrick Martin Lundstrom, Eureka, CA, was stopped in a 1978 Volkswagen van for an alleged traffic violation.  “I could smell the odor of marijuana coming from within his vehicle.  A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 90 grams of marijuana and $5,000 cash.  The money and marijuana were seized as evidence of criminal activity.  Lundstrom was charged with PCS-Marijuana, transported and lodged in the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

A scary traffic incident on Hwy. 101 March 14.  According to an OSP report, a suspect identified as 24-year old Andrew R. DeVillers, of Bandon, allegedly slammed on his brakes near milepost 255 causing a vehicle behind him to rear end his 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck at 4:30 p.m.  “Suspect got out of the vehicle, pointed a loaded Glock at the two victims and stated he would kill them.  Suspect discharged the firearm into the pavement.  Suspect threw the Glock and two magazines in different directions into the brush.”  DeVillers is wanted on charges of Assault III, two-counts of Pointing Firearm at Another, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, two-counts of Menacing, two-counts of Recklessly Endangering, Reckless Driving, three-counts of Hindering Prosecution, and 12-16 Two-Vehicle Injury. 

An investigation is continuing after a pickup truck and a semi were involved in a minor injury collision on Hwy. 101 at Winchester Hill March 14 at 6:22 a.m.  According to an OSP report, both vehicles were southbound when 39-year old Jerry Milton Roberts, Winchester Bay, allegedly operated his Ford F-250 pickup truck in a “careless manner which caused damage to his vehicle when Vehicle #2 attempted an avoiding maneuver.”  The 1993 Peterbuilt was operated by 44-year old James Edward Osborn, Coos Bay.  No citations were issued.

Fell asleep
A driver fell asleep while operating a vehicle on Hwy. 38, milepost 2.5, March 14, 5:25 p.m., and it “drifted off the roadway, and flew down an embankment coming to rest in water on the southside of the roadway.”  According to an OSP report, 42-year old Andrew G. Douglas, Gardiner, refused medical, but was transported by private party to the hospital.
