Vehicle vs. pedestrian
A vehicle vs. pedestrian accident was reported in the Empire District of Coos Bay Wednesday night, August 15.  According to an entry on the police log for 10:35 p.m., Newmark & Morrison, 66-year old male operating the vehicle, and 59-year old male listed as the victim.  CBFD EMS responded.  The "Crash Team" was called out to the location at 11:11 p.m., according to an entry on the North Bend Police log.  According to a news release from CBPD, 59-year old Michael L. Owens, Coos Bay, was attempting to cross Newmark south within a marked crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound 1996 Dodge pickup truck operated by 66-year old Edward A. Powers, Coos Bay.  Owens, who had "very serious head and upper body injuries," was flown to a Portland area hospital.  The investigation revealed that Powers stopped immediately and rendered aid.  "Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash."

As a "result of follow up," Wednesday, August 15, a 38-year old male was arrested at 2051 Newmark Ave., Walmart.  According to an entry on the Coos Bay Police log for 7:10 p.m., Troy Rockwood was charged with five-counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit Card, five-counts of Identity Theft, Theft II and Theft III.  He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.

According to an entry on the Coos Bay Police log for Wednesday, August 15, 2:47 p.m., 800 block Front St., 54-year old male reported "burglary" at Coos Bay Iron Works.

A 19-year old male was arrested early Wednesday morning, August 15, after he allegedly attempted to enter someone's motor vehicle.  According to an entry on the Coos Bay Police log for 5:09 a.m., 200 block No. Broadway, Gabriel T. Alonzo was charged with Theft II and two-counts of Unauthorized Entry Motor Vehicle.  He was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.  There was another report of an UEMV at 2:40 a.m., on the 1000 block of Flanagan Ave. in the Empire District.
